I forgot to post yesterday, so I am posting now.

I feel like no one should use the nuclear power of the atomic bomb. Yes, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, but can't we give them some sort of ultimatium or peace treaty? An atomic bomb seems so destructive and cruel. And the last thing the world needs right now is more cruelty.

And also, creating a bomb takes a lot of time, thought, and money, and those three are things we don't have. So, as Tinkerbell said, we are just wasting money.

I believe that only the most powerful countries (Axis) should be
allowed to produce these WMD's. These masterpeices are one of
a kind and can capture the attention of anyone, anywhere, and
at anytime. That is why they are so great to use against your enemies
in lethal combat. The A-Bomb is an extremely dangerous weapon
for everyone... especially the ones that are the losers in the war (Allies).

I believe that the invasion of France was a terrible idea from the Allies because not only will they lose many troops, but the German Third Reich is too powerful for them to overthrow or push back out of France. I do not know why the Allies decided to attack one of Germany's most powerful holds to any beach first, but what I do know is that it was a very stupid descision that apparently did not receive mch thought into it. America will be severely distraught if this does not work out for them.

The new ‘norm’ is rather disturbing. Why would anyone want to play around with such elemental type forces? Wars should be fought by brave boys with big guns and sharp knives. Women can help. There are many ways that women can contribute to Germany’s efforts to reunite the Fatherland.

Just the other day I was at a gathering of distinguished German scientists, engineers and designers. My, but the things they have planned for Germany’s enemies! After a really lovely cocktail party and dinner we sat speechless as one after another the brilliant German weapons designers unveiled their latest achievements. Go home to America, go home to Britain you brave and silly boys. You must invent much bigger guns and much sharper knives if you have any hope of matching our German engineers

For myself, I grow weary of all of this war and conflict. You should go home to your wives and mothers, your girlfriends and daughters. War takes up way too much time that would be better spent going to the beach on holiday, or sailing a new boat wearing the very latest in nautical fashions.

Thank you very much for another of your pathetic attempts at demoralizing the best and most powerful nation; the best and most powerful army on earth. Oh you silly Brits and Doughboys. All of your mothers will rue this day. After years of preparation and millions of your pounds and dollars spent in this futile effort – the German army and its French allies will crush you on the beaches of France.

I was fortunate enough to tour the Northern Wall. Hitler and Himmler and the new commander of Fortress Europe – Erwin Rommel himself – had a close look at the French beaches. There isn’t any way that any army in the world will defeat the German army. You have no hope; you should surrender now before you are inevitably killed.

The allies twisted the work of the world’s greatest minds! They had meant to create a new energy, not a new, extremely powerful weapon. Men like Einstein and Szilard will be crushed that their work was used to destroy over 110,000 lives. Still, I suppose it is a better scenario than if the Axis, or more specifically Hitler, had obtained it. They would’ve bombed London, then the US, then all the other tiny, insignificant countries into submission. So, in the end this use save lives in short term, about 890,000 to be exact. However, I believe in the long run these weapons will be used to wage war easily, so you can lay back and just bomb your enemies, never risking one of your countries lives! Truman was right, God I hope he was right, but I may never know. I have also received word that the Communists have stolen the plans, leading to a possible Capitalism VS Communism war. I do not know, but I hope that the Soviets are more reserved about the destruction held in their atoms than America…

At the heart of it the Allied leaders are being absolute fools! They are sending their men to die in a large scale attack on one of the heaviest of all defended spots in all of Hitler’s living space. The Allies must first pass the mines and shipstoppers to merely get to the beach. Then they climb straight up a cliff that has so many Axis soldiers that all on the cliff will just be shot in their faces. The Allied leaders need to think of a back up plan in case this genious plan doesn’t work! What would it be though? Attacking through Poland? That would really work out, huh? This nuclear weapon sounds like it could do horrific damage. It also sounds like the world may be ending in Japan. How would you like the Japs to use this nuclear weapon as a counter attack? This would result in many American civilian deaths. Thus far we have lost very many lives, do we really need to lose more? In my opinion this bomb will come back and bite us in the butt. It will haunt its creators for the rest of their lives and it will haunt Americans. We should not drop the bomb. Because when we drop the bomb we will be encouraging other countries to do the same. This bomb has already raised the bar for war, let us not raise it any further. And if the americans do decided to drop the bomb let us only hope that no country will follow in Americas footsteps.

Well... I say both yes and no to the bomb taking into account the situation.

You see, it all depends on the situation. If we are using it to help our own country then I say go for it, but if some other country is using it against us then I say no way!!! You had to be some sort of genius to come up with such an evil, destructive, and powerful weapon. I hope you all know that the use of this weapon could possibly end life for millions if put into the wrong hands. We have to be responsible and be careful because on little slip could end up really bad.

I say we use the bomb if we have no other option. If there is a choice to either send millions of young men to their death fighting or doing it the quick and easy way and using one plane to drop a bomb that will kill less people, then we should drop. Why kill millions in combat when we could we could kill less by bombing? That is my main reason as to why we should just do things the easy way. Any thing we can do to save our young and fearless men then that is what we should do!

This weapon seems much to dangerous to use in any war. No matter who the  bomb is dropped on it should not be used. The causalities already been enough. If by the information you have given us is true, than the bomb is highly dangerous and will kill millions. It is not right. People are people, no matter what country they live in or what religion they believe. That is why I'm against Hitler. He thinks everyone other than German Protestants deserve to live. Everyone deserves the chance to live. If we are human we should not be doing these terrible things like the atom bomb. It is far to much evil. I say whoever drops this bomb should be ashamed. Destruction is not what creates peace. Scaring a country so it surrenders, is not peace. Peace is when we all come together and settle our differences. The war can end once the conflict does. Maybe lock Hitler up for the rest of his life along with all the Nazi's. I believe in peace, and not this. 

Editorial #6 - Nuclear Energy? No Thanks

My world, we have encountered a fork in the road and we are not in Kansas anymore. Nuclear physicists have been consulting with various heads of state around the globe regarding the development of new forms of weaponry that use nuclear energy to create explosions. These explosions are far beyond the comprehension or understanding of anything we have witnessed before. Based upon what we have been able to gather about testing of these weapons, they can threaten the life of entire metropolitan areas or naval bases. Essentially, had the Japanese used this form of technology on Pearl Harbor, it would have taken one plane - one bomb to obliterate the naval base as well as much of Honolulu.

The concern that every global citizen must wrap their head around is this - If this technology becomes the new "norm" for what we use on our enemies during conflict, we are breaching a threshold that is terrifying. Not only will we face the reality of more military casualties that far surpass what we have seen in this horrific war, but we will see the number of civilian deaths surpass anything imaginable.

The questions that we pose to our readers are this:

Should countries continue developing this technology to a usable form?

Once usable and functional - should countries be able to use these weapons in war?

We beg you to consider the consequences of a single weapon being used in action.

Response to News Artical (invasion of France)

What’s done is done and can no longer be changed; the Americans have invaded France through the Atlantic Wall. A risky decision but I think that their effort will be well rewarded. For if the Americans can break through the Atlantic Wall and take control of the beach head, then the rest of Europe will probably be somewhat easier, because they will be able to supply and replenish their forces inland thanks to the landing and staging areas in northern France.

Hopefully in time all of France will be liberated and hopefully some of the French people already in France will bear arms and help out. But I believe that the Germans cant last that much longer. With the Soviets to their east and the Americans and others to their west and south (North Africa/Italy) it just looks like WW1 all over again as far as Germany being squeezed. But sooner or later Germany will be surrounded and this war will come to its end (or so I hope).

I am only unforgiving toward Booboorob because Hitler is unforgiving toward everyone else. I only needed something to to take my anger out on and it just so happened that Booboorob was within my reach, and in didn't help that they were pro Hitler. Get off my back and go on with your life and I will go on with mine. Does that sound good?

Wouldn't you think that Hitler would want to side with this powerful leader, join forces and create a plan to control the world. Let's say that Booboorob came into a country that wanted no part in the war and Booboo's army mass killed everyone in sight and went on city raids and took every visible life including mine. Not a Hitler Support Anymore

I can't believe Hitler would be so ruthless as to backstab the Soviet Union. I think he sided with them because they are a huge force. So Allies, be ready for the Soviets to come and fight with you.

As for cracking the Atlantic Wall, I still think it's risky. I don't think my troops will be going there anytime soon. But good luck, America, Canada, and England.

In responce to the new update!

Well... I think there is a glimmer of light at the end of the long tunnel of war. Maybe bombing behind the monsterous wall will thin out the German lines and give our troops a little hope of finding the end.
But Why? Why does everything have to result in death? Why not come up with a different plan instead of sending thousands of men to die? If you know they are going to die, why send them to their death because you can? Really?!!!
I do hope that our men succeed! If they are able to get behind the wall with as few deaths as possible, then we might have a chance to stop the EVIL Germans in their tracks. We can only pray to God, read the news, and wait to see what will happen next.

I find this news very uplifting and I have high hopes that this means that the end of the war is finally in reach. I'm not saying the road to victory won't be bumpy but it will be a lot easier now that we have succesfully cracked the Atlantic Wall. I had faith that our men would make it through Normandy and i am relieved that they have sucedded. Hopefully now all we have to do is wait and see when this war comes to end. I think our troops are strong and can achieve anything after what I hear today, Hitler's rein will soon come to an end. The scares on the world might still be there but Hitler's ways will be gone and I believe that we will not see a war like this one for a long time. At least that is what i hope will be the case. Best of luck to all our troops that are fighting right now in France and hopefully you will come home soon.

I am so relieved, we are through the channel. It took lots of work to get there and I am proud of the Allies! June 6 will also be a day to remember because the Allied movement toward Germany will be unforgettable and will impact the world forever, or at least I hope so. It will be very important to find out more details.

I find it great that the Allied powers are dropping the bombs! Hopefully it will cause enough destruction to benefit the all powerful, Allied powers. When dropping the troops I hope it goes the way planned, keeping the soldiers safe. Many Allied families will worry about them. It is so brave of the American, British, and Canadian soldiers to fight on the beaches. The Daily Mirror mentions many casualties, which will be remembered for years to come. Knowing that troops have secured the beach head is relieving and I hope it goes uphill from here!

BooBooRob - Time is short and action must be taken. I am strongly encouraged by the efforts of the Allies and I wish them sincere luck and fortune as they try to march forward through the hedgerows of France. The bottom line is that this conflict will eventually end and we have to be within a frame of mind that upholds this. What can I possibly complain about when there is an effort helping from Western Europe to thin the lines of Germany? Nothing. I am contented with the hope that they will continue to move forward. We will sweep the Nazi influence out of Europe like pig vomit off the floor!

As this plan moves forward, we will have to understand the ramifications of how it will impact our nations and our future. As the Allies move further into the killing zones of France, we must be mindful of what is at stake and that no future is certain.

At this moment, if our boys and the Allies in France continue to move forward, it will not only be the decisive and pivotal moment of our generation, but of global human history. This conflict is entirely different than what we have seen as a turbulent Europe in years past. An entire reordering of the globe is at stake! Who will live and control the resources of the globe and who will vanish entirely because they are seen as "unessential" will be decided by this conflict.

I am strongly encouraged by the current push of our Red Army from the east and the Invasion of Normandy is serving a great cause. As of now, the cause is served by stretching out Nazi efforts to an even thinner degree. That is a good effect. Regardless, necessity dictates our current actions. The Nazi Regime cannot continue to thrive. We are simply bits of porcelain in a china shop being torn apart by a bull. We will not survive if we do not act. The invasion of Normandy has moved forward at a heavy cost. The blood of the democratic world now flows through the sands of Normandy and I believe that we will find their blood has not been spilled in vain.

What else are we to do? How else are we to answer someone who projects nothing but such reckless hate? Germany's chancellor has illustrated one finite point to us: We live in an unforgiving and relentless world where action is the most powerful form of communication. If action is not taken, we will become obsolete as a nation - as a people. It is not a mythical concept that we can distance ourselves from, but a very real and imminent reality. This reality IS coming - The world is dying. Will we be there to save it? Our actions will decide the course of humanity.

That is why we push on. That is why America and England are in France. That is why we fight over our piles of rubble that were once our homes.

It is time to take this "bull" by the horns.

6_7_1944 INVASION OF FRANCE - News Article

Normandy - France:

The American, British, and Canadian troops training in Portsmouth and South Hampton have crossed the channel.

Yesterday, June 6, a long debated question of Allied movement towards the core of German occupied France was definitively answered. In the early morning hours and under the cover of darkness, Allied planes crossed the channel. Not long afterward, thousands of infantrymen and artillerymen departed by sea vessels across the English channel. Their destination would be the beaches of Normandy, France. As reports have indicated, these are some of the most heavily guarded regions of Hitler's Atlantic Wall.

Recovered has been the basic strategy of the Allied Powers. Presumably, they are sending airplanes in first to bombard and drop troops behind the beach head to secure a landing zone for the infantry divisions storming the beach. This would soften German resistance at the beach and allow minimal casualties. From there, the allied troops will move inland to take vital ports such as Cherbourg for the sake of staging points.

Currently, the only intelligence that the Daily Mirror can offer is that troops landing on the beaches near the Contentin Peninsula encountered heavy resistance and suffered many casualties. However, American, British, and Canadian troops have secured the beach head. Further progress will be updated as more information is received.

Crack the wall? I say go for it! Defeat Germany? Absolutely! Destroy all evidence of Hitler ever walking the face of the earth? Maybe not...

If we do decide to crack the wall it will be a horrible battle. The Germans have done a complete job of booby trapping that beach. Now that they have put all that work into building the wall will they just surrender when allied troops march out on that beach? I don't think so. If you were a German in that situation you wouldn't surrender, because at the time you would have the advantage of the cliffs and tank and machine gun nests. They will definitely put up a huge fight. They want a war well trust me they're going to get a war.

And let us only pray we can defeat Germany. But lets not wipe the existence of Hitler off the face of the world. We can use him as an example. We can teach about him in schools and be sure that people don't ever follow in his footsteps. We can teach people about the valiant efforts the allies put into the war. And how terrible Hitler and his Nazi Germany really were. He will be the example and the bad guy in our books. He is only making an example of himself doing what he is doing. Our job will soon be finished. The rest will be up to God.

I believe in cracking the Atlantic wall. It is the most sensible thing to do. Like i said before we have to be brave and not sit back and watch the destruction.  Now we must act, we should have acted a long time ago. The ways we try to end the Nazi's is obviously not working and never has. Why didn't they realize this earlier? We have been too weak.  The Nazi's have stabbed the Soviets in the back so we should get them to help out over at the wall.  We can win this war if we really think over the possibilities we have. Let us work together and crack what is keeping us from doing what is right!  Even though it is dangerous it will be better than having Hitler taking over all of the world's greatest countries. We have lost enough lives already because of Hitler's philosophy. The Nazi's shall fall and Europe will rise again!

Philly Frink, as I said before, the Atlantic Wall is an uncrackable object. Even if it wasn't German ocuppied, it would still be indestructable. Even if I were not a Hitler support, I'd still say that it is impossible. If you send your boys there, you are sending them to their deaths. That's all. If you want to, fine. Their your boys.

If we crack the atlantic wall now, we stand an great chance at weakening german forces, because if stalin's men are able to hold their ground, we could split and weaken German forces enough so that we would be able to go in and capture Berlin, and then whaa-la! the war is over. if we dont crack the atlantic wall, who knows, Hitler could accually take over the Soviet Union and then he could take over Britian, and then he could go over to america to fight the americans on american soil. God-forbid, but if we dont act now, and crack the atlantic wall, we may all be doomed to the evil known as the Nazis.

Atlantic wall? No problem. Our boys have been through the depths of hell and back. This is our final frontier. Cutting the underbelly just won't do it. Leave it to us. Our boys may just be able to end the war. With a big ole' hole in the German resistance, Russia can push us on through with quantity. I have utter most faith in our offensive and great respect for Mr.Eisenhower. I pray for the minimum of casualties and the destruction of germany.

German guns can only point so far down. Getting from point A to point B is all it will take.

As we all know the Allied forces are moving in to what I like to call, "the wall of terror". Well, it will be extremely difficult to "crack" and go forth to break this Atlantic Wall of heavy guns and German troops that stretches for miles. When the Daily Mirror mentioned them having "tiny noggins", I found that a big lie. Some Allied countries, and their tough and brave soldiers, must take this responsibility and prove to the Axis powers that they stand corrected and are wrong. If you, a soldier, or even I get killed, look how many new begginings and opportunities you have given to your country and the rest of the Allies. I think the Allied Nations are doing this because they may want the war to be over just like I do. If we do not start to complete this war it may go on for God knows how long. The Nazi's may be a war machine, but if we work together we can conquer anything!

hmmm... this is a hard decision to make. There are both pros and cons to the cracking the atlantic wall plans. If we did crack it, we know that it would be a huge blow to the Allies and many men would die in the process of recovering the beach. On the other hand if we didn't crack it then we run the chance that the Nazi powers move forward and gain more ground. So at this point I cannot make up my mind. Maybe we could come up with a slightly different, safer plan. For example, the Allies could destract Germany while they bring another group of troops from the opposite end. It is just an idea but at this point I think any suggestions might help. Now that they have already decided to crack the atlantic wall, all we can really do is think harder on how we can save more men and make the event seem less dramatic.

Oh, my goodness, America! You are the insane ones! Trying to take down the Atlantic Wall is like trying to cut dwon a tree with a 180 foot diameter with a regular axe! You can't do it! And besides, just like the editor said, if you are standing on that beach and you are not on the German side, you're dead meat. It's impossible!

And Chairs, I have conisdered your...announcement yesterday and have listened to my men chat about how Hitler could backstab the Soviet Union any day, just like Japan stabbed the U.S. Navy in the heart: Pearl Harbor. But still, be reasonble, Hitler wouldn't do that sort of thing because he sided with the Soviets over Japan. Anyway, all I'm saying is, if you don't think it's right to side with Hitler, then fine. Have it your way.

My opinion on all this is that the Allies should definatley crack the Atlantic Wall. My reson is this, if we don't, the Germans with for sure rule the world. Enough people- like the Jews- have been through pure HECK in Europe. If the Allies don't crack the wall, then more than double of the lives we die. So, yes. Allies, everyone is counting on you to bring hope and peace back to all of Europe and the whole world.

I think that the allies keep sending their troops into a killing zone because they dont want to lose the war and they really want to take down the axis powers, which is impossible because we have the srongest army in the universe and no one can take us down!

The Atlantic wall is a mass series of machine guns, artillery emplacements, and many, many German troops. Trying to break through this wall seems like a near impossible feat. But if the Americans are willing to go for it I say go ahead; after all it’s not like anyone else is trying. Plus the Americans have made numerous successful amphibious landings in the Pacific, but this would be different for this is the invasion of a continent not a island. But surly they must understand that an undertaking of this magnitude would involve many troops and would result in many dead troops. Maybe the Americans know something that we don't and have devised a plan according to this advantage. Or perhaps they are just trying to play their hand and see if they get lucky. Either way this is going to be a massive undertaking and the Americans are either vary smart or have totally lost their minds.

Still though I still don’t see why they can’t just attack Germany from Italy. Not necessarily attack it directly though because then there would be Nazi troops on both sides of them. But head to the west and meet up with the Russians and push Germany back over the vary land they have concurred. Although this strategy would leave the UK open to more invasions. I don’t really know though, the invasion of France via the northern coast, also known as the the Atlantic wall, seems risky but the benefits seem equally rewarding. I say go for it.

I say crack the egg! I believe the Atlantic wall is strong on the outside... but once you get inside it is weak. You all keep doubting the allies! You have criticized their every move. Even though every move they make is a good one, and(like always) they come on top.
Whether they choose to crack the Atlantic wall or not I will support their decision. Only because it will be the right one! Nobody on the planet has better judgment than them. So obviously they arn't "tiny minded". At the time the Allies have all the pieces to come out of this war with a victory. And put germany back in the hole it just crawled out of.
Also Mr. Author, this plan will not be like spitting spit balls at a train... the allies have brilliant war tactics, and will bust open this Atlantic wall.
This is my prediction; if they choose to do it they will succeed.

Chairs, agreed. Fear is the driving factor behind Germany and spotandscruffy has simply had a few too many doses of Nazi Kool-Aid. So you have to take those kinds of opinions with a large pinch of salt.

There is a fine distinction that separates Germany's chancellor apart from other fascist leaders around the globe. For instance, our leader is an example of one who has constantly come under the scrutiny of the League of Nations and yet he has not conducted mass murder programs and tried to call them "mercy killings". He is a fascist, but conducts himself in a manner that doesn't lead our nation down paths of certain destruction. The Nazi veil has been stretched too thin and Hitler, Rommel, Braun, Mengele, and his associates are now learning this in the worst way.

I think you will find, as the Nazi scope of influence becomes smaller and smaller, that Germany's leader is more like a petulant and spoiled child behaving more like a corporal than a chancellor as he manipulates and moves chess pieces around the globe simply driving those chess pieces by fear. The epitome of how power can and has fallen into the wrong hands.

Cracking the Atlantic Wall? That's a tall order for a nation who has shown that amphibious invasions are not their forte. The allied effort will either be made or broken by this invasion.

If and when the time comes where the allies storm the beaches of France, it will be THE deciding factor of our generation.

I think the only reason that you call the others evil is because they are scared of Hitler and they don't want to make him angry by not being like him. Why the heck should we send our men to fight for something that we have no control over? Why should we even get involved with this stupid war? We didn't start it, and we shouldn't finish it either. Why should we except that there is always going to be a war over something? Because we are all human and I guess we all get into arguments over something.Even if it is over something as silly as controlling the world. But why should all the American men to do the dirty work? Editorial #5 – To Crack or Not to Crack? March_1944

Fellow readers,

You have no doubt by now heard of the Allied Movement in “all directions and fronts” from the Daily Mirror. The article mentioned apparent plans for an Allied invasion on the Beaches of France to “Crack the Atlantic Wall”. Well, it is no new news that the allied forces are moving forward with this. It is actually a plan that is growing and festering in all of their “tiny noggins”.
The notion of movement in all directions and fronts just baffles me. It is almost as though people are trying to sweep the power and actions of the Nazi Regime under the rug as though it is being erased. Lest we forget that we haven’t even had a taste of the true and unbridled strength of the Nazi war machine at its heart. We have only felt the sprinkles of the first storm.

When the allies try to invade France, and they will, this author’s prediction is that their effort will be the equivalent of shooting spitballs at a freight train. The Atlantic Wall is an endless and impenetrable hive of concrete, heavy guns, and dug-in German troops that stretches for miles. At low tide, the beaches of France present hundreds of yards of open beach to run across. Furthermore, the Germans have every square inch of the beach and its surrounding strongholds pre-sighted by every size and caliber of heavy guns imaginable. In other words, if you’re standing on the beach, you’re a dead man. Why do our leaders insist on sending the boys of the Allied Nations into a killing zone as cannon fodder and target practice?

I think the allies should just stop trying or get a lot more men and better weapons. becuase what they are trying to do to germany right now isn't even making a dent. Germany's army is so powerful not even all the countries in the world wouldn't be able to take us down !!! Even though the Soviets pushed Germany out of the Soviet city of Stalingrad, the Germans still will keep pressure on them throughout the war. Germany will probably reclaim the city of Stalingrad, when they feel that they will need it most, Japan will never give up, even though they lost control of the jungles in Guadalcanal. The Japanese banzai charges are not always helpful, but it stands up for their beliefs in death before dishonor. The charges are also very dangerous, because they just slice you into a million pieces. The Americans should not even try because they will be defeated in the end.

Oh, but this kind of ‘reporting’ almost makes me smile. This so called defeat in Stalingrad is just a minor, temporary setback for the German troops. Once the warm weather returns then the Luftwaffe and glorious German army will resume its operations and they shall of course be victorious!

It is disgusting how reporters and news casters are publishing such vile, untrue rumors. All their so-called news is wishful thinking and propaganda directed to the defeated French, English and American soldiers even now shivering in their hiding places in the woods. It brings false hopes to the readers. You people can’t honestly believe this delusional rubbish.

Spring is just around the corner. Springtime is a wonderful time of year in Berlin. You should plan on coming to visit us next year. What a waste of human life! Franklin needs to stop trying to use roundabout ways to get to Hitler. How would attacking Italy do anything but stop Mussolini from creating a “new Roman Empire.” Franklin, Winston, THINK! You are wasting lives in a campaign that neither of you will win. Neither of you are truly ready for desert warfare, Britain might do better, but when has the USA ever fought in a desert such as Egypt or the Sahara desert? When the time comes Stalin might be right, attack through Normandy. Destroying the Atlantic wall would be risky, and it may risk lives, but it would end the war quite quick—for better or ill. Still, I can not say much for it seem the Soviet Union will be a deciding factor in this war, if they fall Germany will have almost limitless resources in China! How horrid to think that the Axis powers could stretch from France to Japan! The Allies must attack Hitler head on. Not only might it work, but it will surprise him—so far the Allies have done nothing but go around the main threat, Hitler! So, no, they are wrong to attack through Africa.

The United States and the allies are being extremely wasteful, by invading North Africa and trying to defeat Germany quickly. Germany is an extremely strong force and you will never take them down, so why should the Americans even try to defeat them. The allies clearly don't understand that Germany and the axis powers have the strong advantage of technology and power. These two things are key to axis' survival; if the allies knew this, they could maybe have a slim chance at defeating the great axis powers, however they do not so they are clerarly deep in the red.

It’s about time that the Americans got over here. All that remains of Europe is Great Britain and without American Support I don't know how much longer The UK can last. But I have felt just a little relief since the Americans arrived in North Africa; relief from the Germans. Although they may just be attacking a pointless region in the desert the Germans have noticed and have shifted their attention to the Americans. After all how can the Brits and any French soldiers left in the UK possibly create an actual fighting force that would be able to crack that German line on the French coast in our current state?

Although the Americans do seem to be taking a detour through Northern Africa I'm just glad that they finally joined this war. We need all the help we can get. And besides that trying to penetrate from northern France would probably a death sentence anyways. I’ve heard the reports about what Germany has been doing to areas of the northern French coast; machine gun emplacements everywhere. So even if the Americans are taking a de4tour I am glad that they are at least fighting, both the Germans and the Japanese.

As for the troops of Vichy France all I can say is you traitors. Everyone else in France fled to England or died trying to get here, but it was a noble death. Whereas you decide to side with the Germans: those Hitler lovin, overly aggressive, and presumably evil, Germans. You don't deserve to call yourself French.

An attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler? Remarkable. Certainly there must be those that exist within his own party as well who can see his madness and endless resolve for all things that are morally hollow and destructive on this earth. Hopefully they have some sense of relief.

Hitler wanted to start the war by choosing a conflict of his choice, fighting at a time of his choice, and then moving to the next offensive - at a time of his choice. Now, it seems like he was an overzealous schoolboy who was moving chess pieces. When he becomes part of the fold, he will crumble. Great point.

Unfortunately, I'm wondering if he may simply be like a cockroach that will not go away. I think it would be foolhardy at this point in the game to believe that such an icon of evil would be wiped off of the earth that quickly. However, I am hopeful as we hear further news coming out of Germany.

It is encouraging and a relief to finally see a turning of the tide of this endless war. Finally there is a reasonable response to Nazi aggression around the globe. It is incredible to see the Red Army crush the Germans in the East. Adolf Hitler made a fatal error trying to attempt the same strategy that Napoleon tried over a century ago. He is nothing in winter fighting conditions against the Red Army.

We are proud! The soviets have lost many lives during the battles of stalingrad. Hearing news of Hitler's empire starting to shrink is amazing news. The island hopping battles have just started. I am proud, more than proud for being able to take Guadalcanal. Our troops have been fighting the the worst possible conditions. In dense jungle, every step was a risk. Any small hole in the ground could be a jap ready to give his own life just to take one other. Winning this is crucial, but it is only the beginning of our victory.

So great to hear stalin's men were able to push back german forces! this is huge. if the soviets some how were taken over by the nazis, god knows what could have happened to our world. hopefully the assassination attempt on hitler was a sucess. this could end the war as we know it!

I applaud the young American boys and what they have accomplished at Guadalcanal! They are fierce young men that love their country, and want to fight for it. They are very patriotic. I'm very proud! They are slowly creeping up on them japs. And on the other side sneaking up on the back of the Nazi's.

I told you all that the soviets would find their way out of the predicament they were in, with very unnecessary pressure from the clueless Nazi's. Why would they ever break their alliance from the now re-grouped, and powerful soviets. Who have crawled out of the gutter, and once again have beefed up. I also have to say the desert fox has his tail between its legs and has been trampled by the allies. HA, so much for confident strong Nazi general!(more like desert possum)

To tell you the truth I'm hoping that terrible Hitler, and his mustache are goan. He has goan way too far! And the Allies are doing something quickly about it.

I TeddE Gram believe it could be difficult to go straight into the German forces, but where will the world be if someone does not do it. There are many cases where people may die or become injured in this act, but it could help my country and the Allied forces. Lets have a cup of tea, while weakening the German forces, which will be easy because all the Allied forces will and must work together. The Atlantic wall may be difficult to "crack" but it will make history if someone does. If we do not "beat around the bush" the bush will become bigger or smaller if the Allies come to this destination. Even if we have to do it alone it might still make a difference or have a victory or win of some sort.
I dream of the day of peace and war to be over! This mess can be so scaring to see and will change my life forever to come.

The Allied powers are of course doing something that will make history. No one else is strong enough to even stand to the Nazis. they will fight not only for themselves but for the rest of Europe that is under the Nazi control, the Jews especially. Germany doesn't know the devastation it is putting under everyone in the WORLD. The British and the Americans are doing the world a favor; a favor that will make Germany think about what they've done to us.

Well to me this is another dreadful attack on the world. Hitler is defiantly going to occupy the world with his "perfect race". Right now i am speechless, i cannot wrap my head around all the attacks Germany has accomplished. The next roll of the die would seem to be another successful attack, but with some devastation from the German troops and leaders. The world isnt doing a good job at defending themselves; i cannot say i blame them because Germany is a ruthless, careless, and selfish country that only cares about total domination.

Why? Why does war even exist? I know that evil Hitler is trying to take over the whole of Europe and eventually the whole world. I can't believe that man!!! Why? Why? Why? I hate everything about him!!! I dislike the way he is treating innocent civilians, the way he treats his fighting men. But the thing I hate the most is that ugly paste on mustache! I mean shave it off, Really!
Why should America go to war when it has nothing to do with us? Why is the president sending off thousands of young men to go fight against something that has nothing to do with the U.S? It's not fair! If the world wants to go to war, they can go right ahead. That doesn't mean that all of the nations able men has to go along with the crowd.
All war is bad. Why can't the world be at peace? It seams every time I turn around there is more news about war. War is the stupidest idea EVER!!!

June 1943 – Daily Mirror News Update

Turning points have embroiled the Globe.

The shadow of Axis power that seemed to crawl across the world uncontested is finally shrinking. In January, the Soviet Union was able to finally push the Germans back and reclaim their own city of Stalingrad. Hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed in the siege. While all the Soviets have reclaimed is only now a pile of rubble, ash, and dead loved ones, they have been able to guarantee for the moment that the Nazis will not inch towards their claim to living space in Russia.

Meanwhile, the United States has finally crawled through the grass and maze of Jungle at Guadalcanal. The Americans were sleeping in the mud for months on end and being ambushed from every corner of jungle by banzai chargers. General Douglas MacArthur finally has some degree of retribution for the death marches of Bataan in the Pacific.

Weeks ago, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill met at the Trident Conference. A main topic that was being discussed was the prospective invasion by allied powers of German occupied France. FDR and Churchill have instead elected to invade Italy in its place. Will we ever see a proper go at the Atlantic Wall or will it forever be that unwanted pink elephant in the room? The allies are realizing that even though they have pushed Rommel out of the desert, they will have to pull every inch of German occupied Europe out of the cold , dead fingers of every soldier in their path. It will be a long time before we seen American and British boys heading home.

This is a good idea for our front in Europe! There are a few problems though. Getting to the underbelly will be a challenge, because we have never fought in desert conditions. You can name any type of environment you want, but never desert warfare. Germany may not have much expertise either, but it will be a harsh and deadly battle, hopefully not in vain. Island hopping, Deserts, Paratroopers. What else could possibly be new in this war? Overall, i think this is a good strategy, it would be to much of a challenge to attack Germany head on.

I think the allies need to toughen up and not be cowards anymore. The way we have been fighting is obviously not productive enough. The small things that we do to stop them do not add up into one big . . . stopping of the Nazi's. I think the allies should go through with attacking the Atlantic wall; everything else would not be as productive. If we fight the against the Germans along with the Soviet Union we could literally squeeze them back into their own land and keep the Nazi’s from taking over the entire population of Europe and being able to move on to the Americans. And if this recent news about Hitler being assassinated is true, we still have the Nazi’s to worry about. One person gone does not mean an entire war ended. They will not stop. They will find a new leader and keep going. This war cannot be easy to end, the process will be long and hard I believe we can do it with more courage.

I don't think it is a complete waste of what our men are doing now in the desert. At least we they're trying, but I do believe there are other ways that could be more effective. I think the Atlantic wall could be a good plan if it was well planned out, because if it isn't we are just sending more men to their deaths and gaining no ground against Germany.

I must say that i have experienced the devastation of war. Men are wounded, dying, and many are already dead, but what upsets me most about this is why someone would kill others just to gain greater power. I just don't understand it. Hitler is a sick man who is making some of the worst decisions in history. And all for what? more land and a perfect society. Why would anyone want to be the one responsible for this. I know that I for sure wouldn't. I wouldn't want to live with the guilt everyday of my life. Again I pray that this will all be over soon, especially for all those countries Hitler has taken down and are being tortured.

We have just received word that there was a massive explosion during a Nazi conference at the Reichstag. Hitler and his top advisors were at the meeting. It appears as though there has been a successful assassination attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler. This may be the end of the Third Reich!

I understand the longing the British and Americans have to attack Germany they have every right to that want. But is the desert the right place to fight the Germans? I think not. We do need to strike where it matters, the Atlantic wall or even the heart of Germany. Nothing can run without a heart, and everything that lives, every living being has a heart. This mass of living beings includes the people of Germany. If we were to strike at the heart the people of Germany would no longer want to have a part in the war. They would be so devastated they would only want to keep their country form entering a deeper state of depression. So if any person were to have me make the actual battle plans, we would bomb the heart of Germany. We would bomb Berlin. It would be payback for the damage the Nazi's did to Poland, Britain, France and every other country the have destroyed. I along with my country can only pray the war will end.

I'm sorry you and your people have to go through this, Bethehammer. If I were in that situation, I would just sit tight, because this war is bloody enough and this is only the middle part of the story.

Booboorob - I hear your noise! However, my people are in dire need for the German lines to be distracted, if only for a moment. We are living underground, my family dead, my home vaporized by Nazi shells, and any recollection of my old life seems like a distant and fading dream. We are living on bread made of paper paste and I spend every day listening to bullets cracking by my head and shells scream as they fall for their next target. For me, this long-overdue answer to my prayers is more than welcome.

Do the Americans and British seem to stand a chance in the desert against Rommel? I sincerely doubt it. This is a man who knows the desert and any terrain for that matter, like the back of his hand. Whereas the Americans and Brits have little or no experience using armor in the desert.

Right now, my people are fighting for their existence and this is the one single answer that we have witnessed on a global scale that can even resemble a reasonable answer to Nazi expansion. Praise be to God!

Totally Lost It

Those British and Americans are totally foolish. I mean, really? Sure, attacking the Germans in the desert can get us through Itlay, breaking their advance, but still, they've totally lost it. The stronghold we really need to break is the Atlantic Wall, just as the Daily Mirror said. I scorn the British for being such fools.

And another thing, if the Americans take down the Atlantic Wall, that would be a good decoy to the Germans for the Allies to move in. We could surprise attack them! Which, comrades, is exaclty why we shouldn't move through the desert. If Italy finds out, they could tell Germany to be on gaurd, and that would not be a good vantage point to triumph over them. Shame on the British and Americans!

Ha! I laugh at that feeble attempt to break down the German forces. The Allies thought they could defeat Germany with an attack like that!? Of course Germany is going to fight back and of course they are going to put up a great fight. As for the question, this was a pointless venture. Germany will never fall… especially to that sad excuse for an attack. But I say let them waste their time. Let them “beat around the bush.” Let the Americans and British waste their men and materials. Because you know what, it will just give the Furher a chance to retaliate and crush them! Both the United States’ forces and the British forces are nothing but weak, lazy fools who have no experience fighting off such a noble force. It won’t be long now… soon everyone will be under the control of the Furher.

May - 1943

In November, the Allied Powers including the United States and France attacked areas in Northern Africa containing both Germany’s AfrikaKorps and troops of Vichy France – those French who decided to sign armistice and “ally” with Germany after France was occupied by the Germans. When the British and Americans encountered the French, there was little to write home about. However, the Germans soon put up a massive fighting force against the allies at locations such as Kasserine Pass. Apparently, the goal is for these allied nations to puncture the “soft underbelly” of Europe to establish a stronghold and begin charging at Nazi Germany’s “empire".

The Daily Mirror’s question is this – Is this operation the be-all/end-all of operations or will it prove to be a pointless venture for the United States and Britain. Our stance is that the allies should not waste time trying to “beat around the bush” of Nazi occupied territory. We need to strike where it matters! - The Atlantic Wall. Our Prime Minister scoffs at the idea and says it’s too risky. Then what, in the name of all things sacred, are we doing having a go at the Germans in the desert?! Why does it even matter? My loyal readers, I want to hear your take!

Planes are very dangerous and I recognize that you stated that but it is not safer than on foot. German Flak 88s tear planes to shreds with the men in them, So I advise you not to put men on planes, you put yourself at the mercy of the flak.
